Mwinyi has never left Earth before. As such, he is shaky and uncertain onboard New Fish. Later, Mwinyi speaks to New Fish. He is uncertain what he will do after they arrive at the rings of Saturn. Okwu wants to go to Oomza University. Mwinyi tells New Fish stories about Binti, telling the ship how much he loved her. Mwinyi surprises himself, realizing that he wants to go to Oomza University, as it was a part of Binti. Mwinyi and Okwu are unable to bring themselves to go into the room where Binti’s body is kept:
For Okwu, opening that room meant it was time to set Binti free. Neither Okwu nor its fellow Meduse, who were most of the time thirsty with war, wanted to send this peaceful girl human on a journey on which they could not join her. And Okwu couldn’t bear to part with its partner. Not at this time, when things had gone so far (313).
It is finally time for Okwu and Mwinyi to deliver Binti’s body to the rings of Saturn. Both Okwu and Mwinyi go to Binti’s body, but they watch as her okuoko begin to writhe.
